Welcome to the Trenton Center of American Pottery, a nonprofit arts, education, and cultural center dedicated to preserving, teaching, and celebrating Trenton’s extraordinary pottery and ceramics legacy.
Trenton has played a major role in American ceramic history. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the city became one of the nation’s most important centers for ceramic manufacturing, producing everything from art pottery and decorative tile to sanitary ware, porcelain, industrial ceramics, and everyday household objects. Trenton-made ceramic products were shipped across the country, helping shape American homes, public buildings, industry, and design.
The Trenton Center of American Pottery was created with the belief that this history should not only be remembered, but actively experienced. Through classes, workshops, exhibitions, studio access, artist opportunities, lectures, community programs, and partnerships, the Center will connect people of all ages and backgrounds to the creative, cultural, and industrial story of pottery in Trenton.
We invite you to explore our programs, take a class, attend an event, visit an exhibition, support our mission, or become part of our growing creative community. Whether you are a beginner, artist, educator, collector, historian, student, or simply curious about clay, there will be something here for you.
Supported by donations, grants, partnerships, tuition, and community involvement, the Trenton Center of American Pottery is committed to making pottery, ceramics education, and Trenton’s historic legacy accessible to the public. Our goal is to honor the artisans, designers, manufacturers, and workers who helped define Trenton’s place in American ceramics while inspiring future generations to create, learn, and carry this legacy forward.
